Director Laurie Walker

Our distinguished Music Director, Mr. Laurie Walker, has taught music since the late sixties in both Ottawa and Victoria, and is well known for his high calibre student choirs.

Laurie has been involved with adult choirs for many years, choirs which continue to grow in numbers and quality as a result of Laurie’s knowledge of music, singing and choral technique, coupled with his dynamic style and sense of humour.

Laurie was Musical Director of The Village Squires, a male barbershop choir, for several years, and currently conducts The Crystal Singers, The Avalon Singers and the Arion Male Voice Choir, the latter being the oldest continually-performing male choir in Canada.

In 2008 the British Columbia Choral Federation honoured Laurie with The Amy Ferguson Award, for an outstanding choral director who is also an excellent vocal teacher fostering superior vocal practice.
